Here we will create a system to automatically shut off the water in the house when water leak appears. We will do that without any changes in the water supply system, i.e., we don't need to call the specialist to replace our existing water valve.

Here we will create a system to automatically shut off the water in the house when water leak appears. We will do that without any changes in the water supply system, i.e., we don't need to call the specialist to replace our existing water valve.
Auto water shut off on leakage
It will cost around $50-60 (depends on your country and exact components used, and if you already have smart home gateway). This smart home system should close water in the house when one of wireless water leak sensors is detecting leakage, and send notification to the smartphone.
Components used in this video:
  • Actuator for Motorized Valve: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oFvVMiJ or https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_ompGhXV (I used 220V version with 3 wires, unfortunately cannot find exactly the same now). The price should be around $20.
  • Aqara 2 Channels Wireless Relay Controller ($20 or less): https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_on8HWYL
  • Aqara water leak sensor (be sure that it compartible with Mi Home!), about $18: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oDJjG6X
  • Gateway: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_olvy6Sr (required only one for all smart home devices, here is cheapest, start from $10, but try to find much better Xiaomi Gateway 3, else check that it is compatible with Xiaomi Mi Home). Xiaomi Gateway 3 will allow using Mi Home components with Home Assistant if you extend your smart home functionality, so it is the best option.
