Unlike Aqara's separate battery-powered wireless remotes, this D1 model is installed in the wall and switches the connected load. The no-neutral design uses the live conductor and the load connection rather than requiring a neutral wire in the box. The D1 family supports local rocker operation as well as smart-home control and automation after pairing.

Aqara's official D1 support documentation describes adding the wall switch from the Mi Home client through a compatible Xiaomi multi-function gateway or Aqara air-conditioning companion. Together with the exact D1 model mapping, that makes Mi Home compatibility well supported for this China-market model, although availability can still depend on the gateway generation and Mi Home region/device list. The switch should therefore be treated as a hub-connected Zigbee subdevice rather than a standalone Wi-Fi switch.
