Aqara Water Sensor

The Aqara Water Leak Sensor is a small Zigbee detector intended for leak-prone areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, utility spaces and around water-using appliances. The standard model is SJCGQ11LM.

The sensor is battery powered and uses a CR2032 coin cell. Its compact 50 × 50 × 15 mm body sits directly on the surface so the lower contacts can detect water. Because communication is Zigbee, a compatible hub is required for phone notifications, automations and remote monitoring.

This sensor has established Xiaomi Mi Home support through compatible earlier-generation Xiaomi/Aqara Zigbee gateways. Mi Home compatibility is gateway- and region-dependent: older Xiaomi/Aqara Zigbee ecosystems support this model, while current Aqara global documentation is centered more heavily on Aqara Home. Buyers should therefore confirm compatibility with the exact hub and Mi Home region they intend to use.

Pack quantities in the available configurations only change how many identical sensors are included; they do not represent different sensor models.

For reliable automations, pair the sensor with the gateway that will remain in the installation and confirm that it appears in the selected Mi Home region. Zigbee sensors depend on the hub for remote alerts, history and scene triggers. Placement should prioritize the event being detected and stable radio coverage; multi-packs simply provide additional independent sensors for other locations.

A sensor becomes most useful when its event is tied to a clear response: a phone alert, a lighting scene, a security routine or another supported automation. Test the trigger after installation and again after moving the gateway. Battery status should also be monitored in the app where available, since a silent or unreachable sensor cannot provide reliable protection or automation input.
